What is stress?

Basically, In psychology, Stress is a felling of emotional and physical tension. It can be noted as a body’s response to pressures from a situation or events in life. Things contributing stress to an individual may vary from person to person. When we encounter stress then our body will produce stress hormones which will response and will activate our immune system. This response will help us to responds very quickly to critical situations.

Stress may cause you change in mood, sweaty palms, Digestive problems, Sleepless nights, headaches, low energy, racing heartbeat, increase or loss of appetite, upset stomach diarrhea, Muscle tensions, weight gain or loss.

Feeling the stress for longer period is called chronic and will have a significant impact on mental and physical health.

According to the recent survey, Some of the most common things that makes us stressed is Death of our beloved one, Divorce / Separated, loosing a job / Work related or financial problems.

How to Manage / Reduce Stress?

  • Spend enough time with those you loved, Check for friends or relatives who will help you and can give practical advices that will help you in managing stress
  • Stop drinking and smoking, They may help you reduce tensions but in fact they are making the problems worse.
  • Physical exercise will surely help you to manage the effects caused by stress. Walking for about 20-30 minutes in a week is a good startup.
  • Eating healthy will reduce the food related diseases and there is still evidence that food will change your mood.
  • Take some time for hobbies and interest and sleep peacefully.

Medications may also be prescribed which may include sleep aids, antidepressants, and anti-anxiety.
